Volunteers will be placed at various locations throughout Lake County. Days and times will depend on site and type of commitment.  In 2009-10, the AmeriCorps program is in six of the eight districts located in Lake County. 

*         Are the hours flexible for part-time members? For schools and students, it’s preferable to have tutors there every day and especially in the morning. But there is some flexibility in that schools may start and end a member's day at different times. Again, for both half and quarter-time members, there are options for before, during, and after school tutoring!

*      What sort of commitment is necessary? Our program offers half-time (900 hours) and quarter-time (450 hours) positions. The AmeriCorps commitment for both positions is for the entire school year – from our Orientation in September through the end of the end of May.  

It’s important to realize that when you agree to a term of service, once you have completed 15% of your hours, we can not replace your position. This means the targeted students that you were assigned will not get the help that they need. Thus, we ask all applicants to take this commitment seriously: can you truly serve the entire school year?
