What is it?
AmeriCorps is a National Service Program providing volunteers an opportunity to serve their community (also referred to as the “Domestic Peace Corps”). In Lake County, the AmeriCorps Program focuses on:
- Academic Support (Pre-12th) - You will provide small group and one-on-one tutoring in literacy and comprehension.
- After-School Programming (K-12) - You will lead students in an hour of tutoring and homework help, followed by enrichment activities focused on nutrition and physical fitness.
- Oral Health (0-18yo) - Serve students, focus on 0-5 population, around the importance of oral health and assist families in finding needed services.

- Participants have the opportunity for leadership and learning through service.
- Participants support children and youth to advance academically, socially, emotionally, and physically.
- Participants have the training and ongoing support they need to develop both personally and professionally.
- Participants create meaningful opportunities for volunteers to sustain the system of support for youth and families.
